Studio Policies

I love teaching students who are ready and willing to learn! In my studio, I want to show up prepared and ready to teach and ask parents and students to be prepared and ready to learn. I look forward to working with you!

Lesson Commitment

Students are expected to practice at least five times weekly and be prepared to perform their assigned pieces. Students have the option to report practice times to receive points to buy prizes from the music store. Parents and I will discuss an appropriate amount of time needed to receive 1 point for the music store each practice session. Parents can record students practice point in the practice log on mymusicstaff.com. I ask that students practice whatever amount they need to be able to show up to lessons prepared to perform their best and continue learning musically.

Parents and students are committing to a year’s worth of private lessons. There will be a few days off including, but not limited to, 1 day a month, a 3 day Thanksgiving break, a 3 week Christmas break, a 1 week Spring break, and a one month Summer break for the month of July. Days off will be indicated on the calendar in mymusicstaff.com as vacation days and will not have make-up days. For the months of June and August, students are required to attend a combined total of 4 lessons and will be automatically charged for those lessons. More lessons during those months are optional and students can sign up for open slots on the calendar on mymusicstaff.com.

Students have the opportunities to perform in recitals at the end of fall and winter semesters as well as other events as they wish. Sign-ups for recitals and other events will be found on the Calendar in the Student Portal on mymusicstaff.com. Students wishing to participate in recitals must fill out a recital request at least one week before the recital and pay a $5 fee for participation. After reviewing the year, re-enrollment will be discussed.

     Billing and Payment

Piano lessons are $35 for a 30-minute weekly lesson. Drum set lessons are $40 for a 30-minute weekly lesson. This amount may change at the beginning of any given semester. Parents are expected to pay for the upcoming month by the first lesson of the month.                Automatic online payments can be set up through Stripe in the student portal on mymusicstaff.com. Checks or cash are also acceptable forms of payments. Checks can be written to Whitney Reck. Monthly invoices, lesson reminders, and receipts will be emailed and/or texted depending on preference.

     Late or Missing Payments

Payments made after the 10th day of the month will be charged a $7 late fee. Students and parents that have 3 or more late  and/or missing payments will be kicked out of the studio and asked not to return at any time.

Make-up lessons

If a student misses a lesson for any reason, it is their responsibility to report it in the student portal on mymusicstaff.com. Students are asked to give a 24-hour notice whenever possible to be eligible for a make-up lesson credit. Only one credit will be allowed at a time and will expire 30 days after the missed lesson, as such it is recommended to schedule make up lessons as close to the missed day as possible. Students must schedule their own make up lessons in any open time slots on the calendar on mymusicstaff.com. Be aware of locations on different days of the week (Royal City Studio and Moses Lake Studio). Make-up lessons are dependent upon availability and are not guaranteed.

Termination

All students end lessons at some point in their musical journeys. We ask that ending lessons be carefully considered and discussed between the parent and teacher. If, for any reason, a student chooses to leave the studio, a month’s notice and payment are still required to be in good standing for the studio. Parents who do not complete the months payments will be asked not to return to the studio at any time.
